The Childcare Assistance Fund was created to help cover the costs of childcare for single-mothers who are working full-time or attending college full-time as well as grandparents over the age of 65 with full custody of a grandchild. By providing scholarships to quality day care centers around the country, we offer them a sense of financial security and the ability to provide a better life for their family.
Due to the criteria set by most other assistance organizations, many full-time working mothers and full-time student mothers do not qualify to receive help. This limits their potential to grow professionally and comfortably support her family while providing quality childcare for her children. We also see that more and more grandparents aged 65 and older are taking on the responsibility of taking care of their grandchild and sometimes their great great grandchild. These individuals are usually on social security, do not have the resources or accessibility to afford quality child care for that grandchild.
It's all about the children! Pre Kindergarten (Pre K) is important because it provides a great foundation for kindergarten. It also exposes children to an educational environment. Pre-K gives children a chance to develop and grow while also learning skills needed to be successful for the rest of their lives. Studies have shown children that do not attend a quality daycare prior to entering grade school will be behind academically and most of the time can't catch up, resulting in a higher rate of high school drop outs. In fact, The Casey Foundation found that students who were not proficient in reading by the end of third grade were four times more likely to drop out of high school than proficient readers. We’re here to change all of that and help set these deserving families up for the most successful futures for their children!
